Die 12 Songs (plus Bonustrack "Gino Speaks"!!!) des aktuellen Albums sind von der Ur-Besetzung der Band eingespielt worden, nämlich von den durchaus rüstigen Oldies Lou Naftulin (81) an den Drums, Bob "Spike" Williams (57), Lowell "L.W." Ebert (78) und Mike "Pippy" Genova (?) an den Gitarren und Gavan "Buns" Wieser (53) am Bass. Tonangebend in jeder Hinsicht ist bei diesem "Senioren-Club" allerdings die mehr als jugendliche Mitfünfzigerin JoDina, deren Gesang von ihr selbst charmant als "Slighty Off-Key Vocals" umschrieben wird. Durch ihr mutiges Auftreten und ihr ungewöhnliches (modernes) Repertoire, das von erfrischenden Coverversionen einiger Klassiker des neuen wie alten U.S.-Punkrocks ("Basket Case" / GREEN DAY; "Sheena is a Punkrocker"/ RAMONES) über eine Hommage an die ewigen Undergroundpop-Helden VIOLENT FEMMES mit "Blister In The Sun" bis zu den zahlreichen bemerkenswerten Eigenkompositionen mit herrlich amüsanten wie zynischen Texten reicht, beweisen ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE aber vor allem eines: Altsein kann so viel Spass machen und heisst nicht, dass Volksmusik die einzige Zuflucht der späten Jahre sein muss. Who's Your Embalmer?" (which in Europe was only available as a U.S. import) the latest opus of the oldest punk rock band in the world is finally released all over Europe. It bears the characteristical title "Old Farts". The 12 songs (plus bonustrack "Gino Speaks"!!!) of the new album were arranged by the longtime lineup consisting of the still vigorous seniors Lou Naftulin (81) on drums, Bob "Spike" Williams (57), Lowell "L.W." Ebert (78) and Mike "Pippy" Genova (?) on guitars and Gavan "Buns" Wieser (53) on bass. Leading in any regard in this "seniors club" is the more than youthful mid-fifty lead singer JoDina whose vocals she describes herself as "slightly off-key". Through her courageous appearance and her unusual (and modern) repertoire, which ranges from refreshing cover versions of a few classics of old and new U.S. punk rock ("Basket Case" / GREEN DAY; "Sheena is a Punkrocker"/ RAMONES) and a homage to the eternal underground pop heroes VIOLENT FEMMES with "Blister In The Sun" to the numerous and remarkable own compositions with hilariously amusing and sarcastic lyrics, ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE proves one thing: Being old can be that much fun and doesn't mean that folklore is the only refuge for those advanced years.
