One Foot In The Grave bills itself as the world's oldest punk band, but it certainly isn't the most out of date. The geriatric rockers now have a page on the World Wide Web. If you call it up on your computer, you'll find out about the group's new album. Its old album, "Looking Good - Who's Your Embalmer?" and its schedule (April 12 at Undici Undici in Mesa is the next gig).
On the page (it's reached at ), the group also comes clean about its alleged Sun City connection. Some of its original members were from there, and the band actually used to practice there, but through moves and personnel changes, none of its members are Sun Citians anymore. "The band continues to associate itself with Sun City though, for the purpose of their concept", it says.
Glendale resident Gavan Wieser, One Foot's bassist, spokesman and, at 53, youngest member, says the band did well on its recent European tour. It met the cast of a British sit-com also called One Foot in the Grave, and the band has been invited back to Germany for that show's debut there in the fall.
One Foot's newest member, veteran Valley jazz drummer Dave Cook, is fitting in well, Wieser said -- even though Cook's jazz background might seem to make him overqualified to play One Foot's punk rock. "Oh, man, he's wonderful," Wieser said. "He's such a good drummer. And he's a character," he said. "He's lifting the level of everything."
